save a horse, ride a mule

today was our adventure day and probably the most active of all our days in puerto vallarta.  the formal tour took us on a speed boat across the bay to a military truck up an unpaved road with many potholes (it made nyc roads seem very smooth).  we then took a mule ride which would drop us off at the start of the ziplines.

for those of you who don't know, i am extremely afraid of horses, especially riding them.  the mule ride was supposed to be the calm part of the adventure, but riding the mule was not my ideal of calm.  i don't remember the name of the mule i rode, but he was pretty relaxed EXCEPT when another mule would try to pass him on the path and he would speed up.  he did not want to be passed by anyone and would try to beat the other mules.  the path was quite narrow at times and luckily he accepted that he could not beat out the other mules on this part of the trek.

when we made it to the peak of the mountain/jungle/rainforest, we started our zipline adventure.  there were a few major differences between this zipline adventure and the ones i had been on previously in hawaii.

1. you had to hold the line to stop yourself
2. the platforms were a lot smaller to land on
3. one of the "stops" was being dunked in a pool of natural water
4. the trip included rappels down a waterfall and a freefall rappel
5. included multiple bridges and nature walks along the way

other than the mosquito bites and the soaking wet clothes, which i did NOT expect, the trip was quite entertaining.  i highly recommend vallarta adventures to anyone going to puero vallarta.  pics below of the boat ride, old military truck, mule ride, ziplining and rappeling.
