caletas

today was our day trip to las caletas.  las caletas is a private beach about 45 minutes by boat from the marina.  the locals running the tour were definitely entertaining - dancing and singing on the boat ride over.

once we arrived at las caletas, we were greeted with handmade tortillas with a topping bar which included local cheese, guac and various salsas.  there were many activity options on the island.  first, we hit up a yoga session, where we ended up being the only two taking the class.  next, we went snorkling - in addition to looking for fish, it was fun just floating in the water, absorbing the beauty of the place.  we took a cooking class where we got to make the appetizer, guacamole, which was perfect since we both love guac. (see finished product to the left). we made turtles at the clay making session.  the clay came from the mountains behind the beach (to the right is a picture of the turtle i made - he didn't quite make it back to the states in one piece) we also just sat on the beach and took in the sun.  there were many other options including paddle boarding and hiking, but we ran out of time.

after our late lunch we boarded the boat back to puerto vallarta and were once again entertained by the crew during the ride.
