wine

so i just found out that next year i will officially be one of the wine club co-presidents!  i still dont know much about wine, but will continue to learn!

on friday night we had our monthly wine club social.  i enjoy the wine club socials as it is an opportunity to taste new wines, catch up with old friends and make new ones!

follies

saturday night was the annual wharton tradition of follies.  follies is a musical production written, acted and produced by students.  essentially it is a roast of the business school experience and classmates.  i was totally impressed with my talented and witty classmates!

below is one of the video clips that they played between sets.

culinary school

on thursday night i went to a small group dinner through the food club at the local culinary school.  in a nut shell it was a 5 course meal + mini nibblers in between each course for $25.  the school puts on the "restaurant" two days a week and the students run all aspects of the restaurant to learn about the industry in real world environment.  the menu was unique - salads were caribbean, soups were asian, pastas were clearly italian and the main course was american and of course, dessert.  i have included pictures of two of my items: chicken and waffles (american main course) and creme brule with brown sugar and carmelized popcorn on top (dessert). yum!

brown bag lunch

today we had a lunch time discussion about ethics facilitated by the head of the leadership program office.

while the topic was pretty heavy, i was impressed by how easy the conversation went.  it wasnt really a brown bag lunch, but it was a dialogue with approximately 30 people.  we spent some time discussing in small groups and then the discussion was opened to the larger group.  we came to no concrete solutions, but we all left more satisfied for having discussed how we define ethics and some of the questions that arise surrounding this topic.

bubbly

tonight i went to a wine club bubbly tasting.  we tried six different types of sparkling wines from prosecco and cava to champagne and more.  we also had a variety of locations - italy, spain, france and new mexico.  delicious!

indy

this weekend i went to indiana for a quick trip.  my grandparents celebrated their 65th anniversary with all of the fam at a dinner theater.  it was nice seeing my grandparents and catching up with my aunts/uncles/cousins, and of course, my parents.  thanks to grandma, aunt cheryl, sarah, chris and colin for coming early and entertaining my desire for arni's (well, pizza king).

sunday morning before taking off to go back to philly, i got to see julia, one of my teammates from college.  so great to see her and exchange bschool stories.

city of brotherly love

i do have to say many strangers on the street (read: homeless people and strangers) were giving out valentines day wishes.  i am not sure if this is totally creepy or overly friendly; however, in the spirit of the city of brotherly love and trying to be optimistic i will go with friendly.

summer in the mediterranean

so i officially booked my flight to greece!  before climbing kili, i will be going to greece and israel (for my cousin anya's bat mitzvah) and maybe somewhere else.  still figuring out my plans, but at the least i will be starting in greece!

breckenridge

this past weekend i was in breckenridge, colorado for the wharton annual ski trip.  the theme was 80s style.  main takeaways:

1. neon is awesome.
2. i made it down the hill successfully - yes, i was standing up on my snowboard more than i expected
3. the altitude definitely impacts your ability to do anything, especially dance
4. wharton literally took over breckenridge.  even people on the slopes commented on this fact.  i guess that is what happens when 800 people arrive at the same time.
5. this is the one time my hair actually works in my favor.
6. love real fireplaces when it is snowing outside

nyc

i spent about 36 hours in nyc this weekend.  it was awesome catching up with old friends - some which were way overdue visits.  i am always amazed at how close it is to get to the city from philly - just a short train ride away (a little over an hour).

i love walking around the city, but going up there without a jacket was probably not my brightest idea.  it was freezing!
